Blog Posts. A blog, or weblog, is a modern advance that helps put a business or person on the map. A blog is nothing more than a regularly scheduled series of articles, articles that are useful to your market and help to brand you as a go-to business. Blogs are all over the place, and they can be great. But, as many an aspiring blogger has found out, it’s a challenge to write a regular series of articles.I’m like an aspirin for that headache. Email Direct Marketing Campaigns. There’s a secret to writing effective emails, but unfortunately a lot of people haven’t gotten the message. Email marketing has come of age. Yes, it gets an occasional black eye when people’s in boxes fill up, but it’s a way to tell your story that you should consider using.
I write emails that sell, starting out with the most important element – the headline. A bad headline or title line sends a message – “delete me.” A good title also sends a message – “click here.” The headline should convey a sense of urgency, curiosity, or wonder. It’s the way to get your message read.
I write emails that get results. Whether it’s monthly, weekly, or daily (let’s be careful with that last one!), I work with you to get your message out.
Direct Mail. “Snail mail” isn’t dead. It’s more expensive than email, but it’s alive and kicking. The key to a result-getting direct mail letter consists of a compelling sales letter, a value laden piece that aims toward one target – a call to action. It may also contain a brochure. The response card itself is a critical part of a good direct mail campaign.
According to an article in The Huffington Post, Adage Magazine notes that, “direct mail is 10 to 30 times more effective than email.”
Direct mail response rates have been relatively stable since 2010. Additionally, according to the article, when comparing response rates in the same study, 34 out of 1,000 customers responded to direct mail marketing while just 1 out of 1,000 customers responded to email. No, direct mail ain’t dead.
I’ve written hundreds of direct mail letters over the years. Done properly, which is the way I do it, direct mail is a potent weapon in your marketing arsenal.
Newsletters. A newsletter from your company is a great way to keep in front of your customers and your market. It doesn’t have to be long, but it should be sent on a regular time schedule. And, it needs to be interesting. Of course, a well written newsletter will contain subtle references to your products and services. Talk to me about your ideas for a company newsletter.
Sales Letters. A sales letter, whether email or regular mail, is a classic way to seek a direct response from the recipients. I not only write the letter, using the classic copy writing tools to get a good response, but I show you how to track the results for future mailings. A good sales letter not only talks about the features that you offer, but the all important benefits to the prospect. It also closes the sale.
Speeches. Some people say they don’t like to memorize a speech because it will sound “canned.” Nothing could be further from the truth. A speech needs to be crafted, with humor, applause line pauses, and memorable words. It needs to be practiced. I write speeches that people remember.
Video and audio writing. Video, especially since the launch of YouTube, has lit the skies like a rocket. I write compelling words and give them to a professional actor, or talented employee in your office. Maybe it’s you. Video and audio messages are here to stay – because they work.

Web page copy. Your website is your handshake to the world. It’s on your business card, it’s on your stationary, it’s plastered all over the place (or should be). But that isn’t enough, is it? A beautiful design is wasted unless you tell your visitors an exciting story, a story that makes them want to hear more, a story that is what your company is all about. Does your website serve you and get your message across? Is it compelling, or does it just list the things you do?
I write content for your website that makes the world sit up and take notice. More importantly, it makes your market sit up and take notice. Whether it’s a complete site audit, with suggestions for additional content and changes to what’s already there, or just a periodic update page, I write content that tells your story.
White Papers. A White Paper, also known as a Special Report, is one of your best branding tools. A White Paper is a thorough article on a topic related closely to your business, usually about 10 pages in length. Not to be confused with a brochure or sales letter, a well done White Paper strikes a detached tone, giving the reader real value about the topic of the paper. Of course, I sprinkle subtle mentions of your company, such as, “For example, here at Universal Software, we’ve encountered many situations such as this…” You get the picture. It’s not an in your face sales message, but the message is there. A White Paper is a tool whose value keeps on giving. It establishes you or your company as a “thought leader,” a key in establishing your business as a go-to resource. You will send your White Paper(s) to prospects, or provide your sales force with a reason to call back and leave a useful gift for the prospect.
